Vehicle Physics Pro demos released!

I’ve just released the two first demos of Vehicle Physics Pro. You can now try the best vehicle dynamics simulation available for Unity 3D. Downloads available here:

JPickup City Demo

The classic City scenery with the VPP-based JPickup truck. Includes a Setup dialog for configuring the most typical features in a standard car:

  • All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) vs. Rear-Wheel-Drive (RWD)
  • Manual vs. Automatic transmission
  • Auto-shift in Manual transmission
  • Clutch vs. Torque Converter
  • Differential Lock, three levels: axle, center, full.
  • Engine stall

The Setup dialog includes built-in help. Just move the mouse over an option to see its description.

The dashboard exposes the available assists: ABS, ECS, TCS, ASR and Steering Assist. Driver assists may be disabled individually. Steering assist is available for keyboard and gamepad only.

Ascari Demo

This is the demo I use to learn and memorize the key aspects of this awesome track in both day and night conditions. The car is a stock Volkswagen Golf. Not a racing car, not even a particularly powerful car, so the challenge is driving it to competitive level getting the maximum out of it. See the Rules & Hints tab in the in-game Help for more.

The demo features a beautiful day-night cycle. The time of day passes at a rate of 1 hour per minute, so an entire day takes 24 minutes of simulation time. Visibility is very poor on purpose at night, so you have to memorize the track as much as possible and drive by using the few references at all within your reach. Remember to turn the headlights on!

Can you beat the 2:50 mark? My lap record at the time of writing this is 2:47.412. It was not a perfect lap so it can be beaten 😉

Credits: The 3D model of the Ascari Resort Track is my own adaptation to Unity of a mod for Assetto Corsa developed by the AC forum member liquido a few years ago. You can read the full story here.

Common Features

Both demos include a side menu bar with detailed telemetry, performance charts, input configuration and a complete in-game help. The Ascari demo also includes a Rules & Hints section in the Help.

Supported input includes keyboard, Xbox gamepad and several models of steering wheels with force feedback.

I wonder if there’s a way to get in contact with you. I’d like to make a MMO racing game graphics comparable to 1998 racing games. Vehicles built similarly to Colin McRae Rally 2.0/Need for Speed High Stakes. And the trick is I’m using surveyed free LiDAR data sets that Slovenia provides. I kinda want to make the coastline of slovenia in low poly but realistic. Even though the textures used would be 256×256 6 bit color depth compressed DX1 dds…………………….. with all vehicles and motorcycles in the history of combustion engine….. and the game being moddable.

Anywho. I was wondering if I could present it to you and if you could join in as a hobby?
I’m just a newbie 3D modeler. I had in plan to do only 1 square kilometer with the neighboring kilometers just with the satellite images wrapped on it.. Just to see how Racing Club United would feel. Would you maybe be interested….. oh … there is the twitter.. @vehiclephysics… gonna try and contact you there.

  2. I’m in need of a Semi-Truck and Trailer physics. Does your product handle pulling a trailer?

  3. Hi Edy,
You have a very nice track Spa-Francorchamps. Just wondering why is the terrain x=-1147 y=368. I guess it doesn’t really matter or does it? I’m quite new to 3D modeling.

  4. @Andrew The position of the terrain is configured to match the track mesh. Thus, the terrain fills the surroundings of the track correctly.

  5. Hey, Edy.
I’m trying to use your Physics Engine for my own racing game and I’m curious if there are specific attributes or requirements when modeling a car to be used for it to function optimally. We are trying to model it using Blender.

  6. HEY EDY CAN WE DOWNLOAD AND WHERE WE CAN DOWNLOAD THESE VECHILES?!

  7. plz add browser version that is compatible with Chromebook

  8. Is it free no download no flash and unblocked on a school Chromebook?

  9. how do I get into the new demo I love the game and I play it when I am bored in class

  10. on Chromebook tho (school)

  11. Edy can you please make it where we can play it on a Chromebook, im in school and i would love to play it when im bored in class

  12. How do I actually play the game? No matter what I click, it takes me to information about the game, but not the game itself.
